Planning a family vacation to Colorado Springs? You’re in for a treat! This city has so much to offer for all ages. Here are ten things you can do with your family while you’re here.
1. Check Out the Pioneer Museum
If your family loves history (or even if they don’t!), the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum is a neat place to visit. Some of the exhibits are interactive so the kids won’t get bored, and you’ll all learn about the area’s past. It’s a great way to sneak in a little education while having fun!
2. Hang Out at Focus on the Family
Focus on the Family is all about good, clean fun. The kids will love Whit’s End Soda Shoppe for some yummy ice cream, and the indoor play area is perfect for burning off some energy. And if your kids are anything like mine they’ll spend the whole time going down the two story Bend-A-Go Slide. It’s a great spot where everyone can relax and enjoy some quality time together.
3. Take a Stroll Through Old Colorado City
Take a walk through Old Colorado City, where you can window shop, explore unique boutiques, and grab a treat at one of the local cafes. It’s a laid-back way to spend the day, and you might even find a cool souvenir to take home.
4. Ride the Ferris Wheel at Scheels
Scheels isn’t just a store—it’s an adventure! The indoor Ferris wheel is a hit with kids, and there’s plenty more to do, from playing games (check out the shooting gallery!) to checking out the aquariums. It’s a fun stop that everyone in the family will enjoy.
5. Have a Blast at the Main Event
Looking for some serious family fun? Head to the Main Event (formerly known as the Summit), where you can bowl, play laser tag, and hit the arcade. It’s got a little bit of everything, so everyone can find something they love. Perfect for a family night out!
6. Watch a Movie at Roadhouse Cinemas
Take your family movie night to the next level at Roadhouse Cinemas. Comfy recliners, delicious food (if you like sweet potatoes fries, theirs are the bomb!), and the latest movies make this a great spot to relax together. Order a gourmet burger or pizza, and enjoy the show! Don’t forget to top it all off with one of their featured popcorn flavors.
7. Drive Through Garden of the Gods
Garden of the Gods is a must-see when you’re in Colorado Springs. Whether you drive through or hike one of the trails, the views are incredible. The giant red rocks make for amazing photos, so be sure to bring your camera—or even better, have your family photos taken here!
8. Ride the Pikes Peak Cog Railway
For an adventure your family will never forget, hop on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway. The ride up the mountain offers stunning views, and the donuts at the top are legendary. It’s one of those experiences that will be a treasured family memory for years.
9. Visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is unlike any other zoo you’ve been to. It’s set on a mountainside, so you get amazing views while checking out the animals. Definitely feed the giraffes, and the sky ride is a blast. You don’t want to miss the cute little waddling penguins and the fun kids area! The kids (and you!) will love it.
