If you’re looking for a beautiful, natural setting for family photos in Colorado Springs, Ute Valley Park is a fantastic choice! This park has tree-lined trails, open spaces, and a mix of greenery and rock formations, making it a versatile spot for outdoor sessions.
It was nice to rediscover this park as a photo location! I had been here years ago when I was first starting photography but hadn’t used it much for family sessions. When I came back, I realized what a great spot it is—the mix of open spaces, tall trees, and beautiful mountain backdrops makes it a great spot for photos.
For this Ute Valley Park family photo session, we met a couple of hours before sunset—the perfect time for that soft, flattering golden-hour glow. The light here is especially beautiful in the late afternoon, casting a warm glow over everything. As the sun sets behind the mountains, it creates a soft, dreamy look that I love.
One of the best things about Ute Valley is that it’s easy to get to – it’s right in the middle of the Springs – while offering a variety of scenic spots. Whether you’re looking for wooded paths, tall grasses, or soft mountain views in the background, this location has so much to offer. It offers plenty of space for kids to explore, and the scenery allows for a mix of wide, scenic shots and close-up family moments.
