Spring family activities are one of the best ways to shake off the winter blues and enjoy the season. Since we’re planning a spring staycation this year, I’ve been thinking about all the things we love to do as a family this time of year. I have kids ranging from 6-18 so these are fun for everyone. Whether you’re visiting or just looking for new ideas, here are some of our favorite ways to make the most of spring in Colorado Springs! (I pulled these pics from the archives- back when the kids wanted to be in pictures!)

Get Outside
We love spending an afternoon in Old Colorado City—grabbing a yummy treat, wandering through the little shops, and stopping at Bancroft Park to let the kids run around. Spring is also the perfect time for a trip to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. The cooler weather means the animals are more active, and it’s always fun feeding the giraffes and walking the trails with those beautiful mountain views.
If the weather is nice, you can find us out on the trails. Palmer Park and Red Rock Canyon Open Space are two of our favorites—plenty of room for the kids to climb, explore, and just be kids. And if we’re looking for something a little more relaxed, we love tea at Glen Eyrie. Sitting in a castle, sipping tea, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings feels like such a special treat. Even my kids enjoy it!
Cozy Indoor
Of course, Colorado weather doesn’t always cooperate, so we like to have some indoor options too. The Pioneer Museum is a great way to explore local history while staying warm indoors. They have fun interactive exhibits for the littles.
At home, we love cozy days together—movie marathons, game nights, baking something sweet, or indoor s’mores nights are some of our favorite ways to slow down and just enjoy time as a family.
No matter what we’re doing, spring always feels like a fresh start—a time to shake off winter and make new memories. I’d love to hear what spring family activities your family enjoys! Let me know if you have any favorite spots we should check out.
