Where to Shop for Kids’ Clothes for Family Photos

A photo of a mom, dad, daughter and son at a family photo shoot in Colorado Springs at Red Rock Canyon for an article about where to shop for kids' clothes for your family photos.

Hey momma, one of the most stressful and time consuming part of preparing for family photos can be figuring out where to shop. Today I’m sharing a few of my favorite stores-specifically for kids’ clothes. Some are online, some are local to me in Colorado Springs. In no particular order…

1. Once Upon a Child

Once upon a child is a store in Colorado Springs that sells gently used kids’ clothing items. I like how they organize clothing by color so it’s easy to shop in a color palette. They also have big bins of shoes- I don’t always have good luck with shoes but I always check. The price is right and sometimes you can find great gems here! If you go often like I do, you can even get cash back rewards.

2. Thrift Stores

Places like Goodwill and the Arc can be a good place to find great deals on kids’ clothes. These take a bit more patience though- I find that things are not as well organized so it takes time to look through everything.

3. Old Navy

Old Navy is a great place to find kids’ clothes that are both cute and affordable. You’ll be able to put together an outfit from head to toe. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for sales and coupons.

4. The Children’s Place

Another store for cute, affordable kids’ clothes. I like to shop online here to get those online only discounts. When ordering online, make sure to measure your kids because sizes can vary so much by brand!

5. Joyfolie

If you’re looking for lacy, flowy, dramatic dresses… this is the place for that. Joyfolie is a bit more expensive than the others but their pieces are beautiful. They also have super cute shoes. They do have sales here and there so keep an eye out for those.

6. Amazon

The thing I like most about amazon (aside from the super fast shipping) is their flexible return policies. Sometimes when shopping online it’s hard to know how something will fit, or even exactly what color it is. It’s easy to order a few things to try and return what doesn’t work.

7. My Client Closet

I’ve spent some time cultivating a small collection of kids’ clothes for my client closet. As part of your session preparation we will work on a style board together, and you’ll see a few client closet options in there.

That’s all, folks

Dressing your kids for a photo shoot is an important part of the process, even though it can be frustrating at times. Remember, choose outfits that your kids feel comfortable in, this will help them relax and enjoy the photo session which will translate to happy, relaxed photos.

I hope this guide helps you know where to shop for kids’ clothes for your next family photos. Do you have any favorite stores for shopping for photo sessions? I’d love to hear about them in the comments. Until next time, happy shopping!
